Tenure-eligible Faculty Position

The Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine‐Phoenix, invites applications for a tenure‐eligible faculty position. We seek an outstanding scientist to investigate fundamental molecular and/or cellular mechanisms of immune or stress responses in viral infection or cancer. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of an Initiative in Stress Biology and synergize/collaborate
with existing faculty working in the broad areas of microbial pathogenesis & immunology, stress & geneenvironment interactions, bone & skin biology, cardiovascular biology, hormone & steroid biology, obesity & metabolism and cancer biology.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive start‐up package and salary support. Faculty members also have outstanding opportunities to collaborate with existing investigators in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, the Center for Applied NanoBioscience and Medicine and affiliate institutions including Phoenix Children's Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital/Barrow Neurological Institute, the Translational Genomics Research Institute and the Arizona Alzheimer's Consortium. The individual recruited into this position will be expected to support the educational mission by teaching in the medical school curriculum and in a developing graduate program.

Applicants must possess a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) and post‐doctoral training in the proposed field of study. While preference will be given to applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor we will consider applications from exceptional investigators at higher ranks with established research programs and active extramural funding. Preference will also be given to candidates who can contribute to programmatic funding goals.

Open Rank tenure-eligible Neuroscience faculty position

The Department of Basic Medical Sciences, at the University of Arizona College of Medicine‐Phoenix, invites applications for a tenure‐eligible faculty position in Neuroscience. We are particularly interested in individuals who can contribute to the development of an Initiative in Stress Biology and who use contemporary molecular, cellular, behavioral or anatomical approaches to investigate the following areas:

  1. Neurobiology of stress: Neural regulation of neuroendocrine or autonomic responses to the environment, cellular stress responses, homeostasis and/or stress‐related behaviors and neuropathology.
  2. Neuro‐immune interactions: Role of the immune system in modulating nervous system function and neurological disease, and/or neural regulation of immune function and signaling, including the effect of biological stressors.
  3. Developmental Neurobiology: Fetal antecedents of adult neurological disorders including genetic and epigenetic effects on brain development and roles in programming adult disease states, including stress‐related neurological disorders such as drug abuse, anxiety, depression and schizophrenia.
